As a wife and mother I believe it is my responsibility to feed my family the best I CAN…. and that’s not going to look like the same as everyone else trying to do the same thing. We are each on our own journey.

But the name of this blog was inspired by Proverbs 31 where it says: [she] giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. I want to learn how to give  my family a healthy portion at meals and snacks… and here is where I will journal it.

So, I am biting the bullet {and hoping it doesn’t have any calories-ha} and going to share this journey I have been on towards living healthy and reclaiming a healthier weight… as well as creating a healthy “self-image” of my body. I rarely ever speak of the food we eat as a family. Food and weight are such sensitive issues in this world. And for so long it was something I avoided even thinking about.

At some point, I may detail some of my heart struggles that brought me to this place, but for now it will have to suffice that my spirit was low and crying out to my God to give me SOME way to be able to have the energy and focus needed to take care of my 4 precious children and beloved husband. There were so very many days the energy simply never came and the ability to clearly focus on the task at hand was in-comprehendible.

I took some drastic measures and lost about 40 lbs. And I did feel SO much better… though there was much left to loose to be in a healthier weight range. But I could not figure out how to eat to keep those pounds off and up crept about 12 of them… and I started crying out in my heart again.

THMWhile I know exercise was needed, I also needed to get to a point that I COULD… and ‘making excuses’ aside… I wasn’t there. I needed to know how to better feed my body.

Then I came across a few bloggers’ reviews of this book… Trim Healthy Mama.

I was very skeptical at first. I had followed a few of them before and I knew they grew some of their own food and already had made several switches to a more whole-foods approach… and I wondered how in the world this could work for us. I have no ‘extra’ freezer space and no where to glean any extra income for more expensive foods.

But I was desperate.

And I kept seeing different links to bloggers talking about how this new way of eating was effecting their whole life. They had energy! And they lost weight!

So, after a few times mentioning it to my husband, I flat out asked him if I could get the e-book, as it was a full $15 less than the hard copy; and I was desperate to read what these ladies talked about. It sounded so very promising and not extremely restricting. [My husband does all within his power –and then some— to spoil me. I got the book that day.]

So, the last week of June I bought it and read it.

I will be completely honest. It was overwhelming. and scary! {just a little. lol}

and WAY overwhelming–did I say that already? well, it was!

BUT DO NOT LET THAT STOP YOU FROM TRYING!

I was terrified to have a baby… but then I had 3 more! 🙂 because it was worth it.

And so is learning these new principles about food.

I will have to say that this completes my initial introduction. I plan to use this blog to slowly tell my story as well as share recipes tweak to be “on plan” for weight loss. These principles about food prep and eating are simply a new and permanent way of life.

I hope you will join me on this journey!
